"Davina does weekly sessions of music and singing at our day centre for the elderly.  Davina presents each member with a song book which has large print words to each song that she will later sing.  She then greets each member, and sings a 'welcome' song to get everyone warmed up.  The songs that Davina sings with the members are ones that appropriate for their generation, and that most of them can recall.  The vast majority (if not all) of our service users join in with each song.  This promotes brain function and encourages each member to feel that they are contributing to the activity.  After the sessions our members continue to sing or hum the songs that have been sung.  This is especially valuable for those who have dementia as often they can feel excluded during an activity as they do not understand the concept.  It is an activity that is very welcomed and enjoyed by all."
